I am regretfully selling my 1999 BMW M Coupe. I bought this car not long ago in June of this year. I am selling so soon because I am taking a job in the Northeast and I hate to keep the car in storage through winters! I intended to keep this car a long time but I need to sell to buy something AWD/4WD. I will consider trades for Suburban/Expedition.
This M Coupe has been well taken care of through the last four owners and has approximately 102,000 miles. It has always been garaged. I have put four thousand miles on it. I changed the oil to Royal Purple 5w 40 at 99,000. Prior to selling I will replace the rear diff and trans fluid with Royal Purple prior to delivery to the new owner. I have service records from previous owners as well as the original sticker and owners manuals.
I had the tires replaced with Continental ExtremeContact DW at 98,000 miles. The tires are practically brand new. I had the windows professionally tinted at 100,000 miles, and the sunroof practically blacked out with additional tint to keep the interior more cool/comfortable.
I would rate the interior as a 8/10. The leather is in outstanding condition except for typical wear on the drivers side bolster. The passenger seat and the rest of the driver's seat looks brand new. The dash and clusters look brand new. The instrument panel and gauge cluster both have a light out, which I will replace prior to delivery. All gauges and controls function as designed and the A/C blows cold. The car comes with the original mats as well as brand new OEM mats as backups.
I rate the exterior as 7/10. The car has three noteable flaws on the exterior. First, the drivers side of the front bumper has a nickel sized hole in it from what looks like a puncture in a garage or trailer. Second, the hood has two fingernail sized dent/scratches in it that have been touched up by a previous owner. Third, the driver's side C-pillar has a dent in it. Overall the paint is in good condition and I have been able to keep a good deep shine by using a clay bar and polishing compound. There are a few tiny dents from door hits over the last 100,000 miles. There are pen-head sized chips on the front bumper/hood from regular driving. The bottom of the front bumper has some small scuffing. The rear bumper has one noticeable scratch. Bottom line: this is a great looking, well-preserved car for a 1999 but is not a concours example. I think it is a great candidate for spirited daily driving, tracking or Auto cross.
The car runs flawlessly. It has a number of well-researched and professionally installed modifications which I will list below:
- TC Kline Coilovers (450/600) with Koni shocks
- TC Kline camber plates and rear shock mounts (currently about 4 degrees of neg camber)
- Mishimoto oil cooler with stainless lines
- Graf water pump
- Wahler thermostat
- VSL aluminum radiator
- H&R front sway bar
- Urethane bushings
- Stainless brake lines
- Zionsville aluminum radiator shroud and overflow tank
- Motion motorsports aluminum underpanel
- extended wheel studs
These upgrades are worth in excess of $4500.
This is the best handling car (including other M Coupes, 911s, S2000) that I have ever driven. You have to drive this car to understand. I am available to show the car and can best be reached by email.
