This 2001 BMW M Coupe (Chassis LK60326) is another of the later, higher horsepower S54 models. The car has under 53k miles and has had the 50k-mile service performed, and the seller is the second owner who has all the records back to new. This car isn’t totally pristine like the last one we featured that sold instantly for $27,500, as this one has some paint peeling on the front and rear bumper covers and the typical rim scrapes. Given how many interested parties missed out on the other car, which was also Sapphire Black, this one seems like a good alternative and maybe a better buy. It is now available in Rochester, New York for $22,500, which includes a spare set of wheels and a factory roof rack.
The car wears 1999 M Coupe wheels, but the factory wheels are also included. The wheels do have some light scuffs. The car came with both sets when the seller purchased it, so he swapped these on to use the rubber. The tan interior below is one of the more sedate that came on these cars, and is easy on the eyes for those who don’t want radical red and blue schemes.
The seller says that the car has never been tracked and has no modifications, something that is rare with this model. As always these cars draw half positive and have negative comments. Expect it here again. We have spent some time driving one that we remember fondly, so we are believers. Check out the video below that shows a good walk-around.
If we bought this car, we'd have the bumpers refinished properly, and use the opportunity to delete the front plate. We’d sell the wheels we didn’t want, add new rubber to the ones we kept, and drive the car for the next 30k miles. At 80k it would still be a low mileage car for its age and easy to sell.
