Sold 8/3/12 - Sold for asking price to Colby! Yep, it's coming here to Fort Collins. Expect some sweet steel gray/dakay yellow photos shoots.
7/30/12 Update - Price reduced to $21,000 from $22,000. I think it's a good deal for the color combo and condition.
5/7/12 Updtae - Back on the market after about a year off. It's now priced at $22,000 down from $22,500.
6/1/11 Update - Added a Carfax report for this coupe showing it is indeed a one-owner and confirms the odometer replacement. I also go the following report:
Cluster reads 25K miles but actual vehicle mileage is 42K. BMW replaced the cluster in an attempt to solve a fuel sender problem. They never recoded the new cluster to actual mileage (17,131 miles) so his current cluster reads 25K miles. I think he has BMW paperwork to prove this. Overall the car looks good. Alignment of panels look good. Paint looks good. Not a hint of oxidation. As for being in an accident, the rear right light was hit and replaced causing minor damage to the rear right fender which had to be repainted. If he didn't mention it, I would never know. He said you could see a minor difference in the color. Again, I couldn't tell the difference.
Small chip in windshield. Interior looks fine. Both seats look good.
There was a cut in the rear paneling where BMW did a replacement of the fuel sender (email jon@mcoupebuyersguide.com if you want to see a photo). It was not ragged and looked like it was somewhat original to the car until you lifted it to see the insulation cut up.
Overall, it's a very nice car and he knows it. His price is firm.
It sounds like this coupe is as nice as advertised.
5/3/11 Update - Price reduced to $22,500 from $25,000 making it a good deal for the condition and rare color combination.
4/25/11 Update - Out of purgatory and back on the market.
8/27/10 Update - Mileage corrected to 42,000 miles from 25,000 miles. That probably lowers the value a little in my mind, but doesn't change the condition, rarity or history. Still could be a deal for the right person.
This is the first Dakar Yellow coupe that's been for sale since starting my site. They don't come along very often. It's a low mileage, one-owner that appears to be very well take care of. The price is high for an S52, but the combination of condition, rarity, and history make this a decent deal.
